About this service
Why choose us for Wet Room Flooring in Exeter?
A wet room floor has one job above all: keep water on the surface and out of the floor beneath. We fit non-slip safety vinyl in wet rooms, walk-in showers and accessible bathrooms across Exeter, with heat-welded seams and sealed edges so the whole floor works as one waterproof sheet. Every job starts with a free home visit, where we look at the room, check the subfloor and give you a clear, no-obligation quote.
What we do
- Check and prepare the subfloor so it's flat, sound and laid to the right fall towards the drain
- Fit non-slip safety vinyl across the floor, following the fall
- Heat-weld every seam
- Turn the vinyl up the wall as a coved upstand, or finish it neatly at floor level, depending on the room
- Fit the vinyl into the drain ourselves, clamped by the drain's ring, so water runs into the drain and not under the floor
- Leave the room clean and ready to use
Why vinyl suits a wet room
Tiles look good in a wet room, but grout lines are where water gets in and where mould starts. Safety vinyl has no grout. It's laid as a sheet, the joins are heat-welded, and it can be turned up the wall at the edges, so there's no gap at the corner for water to find. It's also warmer and softer underfoot than tile, which matters if the room is for someone who might slip or fall.
The vinyl we fit is slip-rated. R10 is right for most home wet rooms and bathrooms. R11 gives more grip where the floor is often very wet or the user is less steady on their feet. We'll recommend the rating on the home visit.
What we fit
Most of our wet room floors are Altro safety vinyl, and we also fit Polyflor. Both are made for floors that get wet every day, with slip resistance built into the surface so it lasts the life of the floor.
Wet rooms for easier access
A lot of our wet room work is for people who need a step-free shower: older relatives staying independent at home, someone recovering from an operation, or a wheelchair user. A level floor with a slip-rated surface and no lip at the shower makes the room safer and easier to use. If you're adapting a bathroom for someone, tell us on the visit and we'll recommend a floor to suit.
Building a new wet room?
We fit the floor. Tanking, plumbing, the shower and wall finishes are usually done by your bathroom fitter or plumber. We regularly work alongside them and agree who does what before the job starts, so the floor goes down at the right point in the build. If you haven't got a fitter yet, contact us anyway and we'll talk you through what the floor needs.
Replacing a tired or leaking wet room floor
If your wet room floor has lifted at the edges, split at a seam or started to smell damp, water is probably getting underneath. We can lift the old floor, check and repair the subfloor and fit new safety vinyl. On the visit we'll tell you honestly whether the floor can be replaced on its own or whether there's a bigger problem your plumber should look at first.
Wet room flooring for businesses
We also fit wet room and changing room flooring for care homes, gyms, sports clubs and medical practices around Exeter, using the same welded, slip-rated vinyl. See our commercial flooring and safety flooring pages for more on commercial work.

FAQs
Frequently asked questions.
Is vinyl flooring suitable for a wet room?
Yes, if it's the right kind. Wet rooms need slip-rated safety vinyl, laid as a sheet with heat-welded seams and sealed at the walls and drain. Standard domestic vinyl or click LVT isn't made for a floor that's soaked every day.
How does the vinyl connect to the drain?
The drain has a clamping ring. We lay the vinyl into the drain and clamp it in place ourselves, so water runs off the surface into the drain rather than under the floor. That join is the most important part of the job.
Which slip rating do I need?
For most home wet rooms R10 is enough. If the floor will be very wet or the person using it is unsteady, R11 gives more grip. We'll bring samples of both so you can feel the difference.
Does the vinyl have to go up the walls?
No. We can turn it up the wall as a coved upstand, which seals the corner, or finish it at floor level if the walls are tiled or panelled down to the floor. We'll recommend the best option for your room on the visit.
Can you fit a new floor in my existing wet room?
Usually, yes. We lift the old vinyl, check the subfloor for damage and repair it if needed, then fit new safety vinyl. If we find a leak or a problem with the drain, we'll tell you before going any further.
Do you build the whole wet room?
No. We fit the floor. Tanking, plumbing and the shower are done by a bathroom fitter or plumber, and we're happy to work with yours.
How long does it take?
Most domestic wet room floors are fitted in a day once the subfloor is ready. We'll give you a clear timescale with your quote.
