A kitchen floor has to cope with spills, dropped pans, wet feet and heavy traffic, and still look good. We supply and fit kitchen flooring across Exeter and Devon, including LVT, sheet vinyl, water-resistant laminate and engineered wood, and Todd fits every floor himself. We bring samples to your home, look at the room and give you a clear, no-obligation quote.

Your options

  • LVT: waterproof, warm and hard-wearing, with realistic wood and stone looks from Karndean, Amtico, Polyflor and Brampton Chase. Our most popular kitchen floor.
  • Sheet vinyl: waterproof, soft underfoot and the most affordable option, fitted in one piece with very few joins.
  • Laminate: a firm, warm wood look. Choose a water-resistant range and wipe up spills promptly.
  • Engineered wood: real wood for kitchen-diners and open-plan rooms, as long as you're happy to wipe up spills straight away.

Before the units or after?

If you're having a new kitchen fitted, the best time to lay the floor is usually before the units go in, so the floor runs underneath and you can move or change units later without a gap. If the units are already in, we fit neatly up to the plinths and around the end panels. Tell us where your kitchen fitter is up to and we'll plan around them.

Open-plan kitchens

Running one floor from the kitchen through to the dining or living area makes the space feel bigger. LVT and engineered wood both work well here. We'll plan the direction of the boards and any thresholds so the floor flows from room to room.

The practical side

We can move freestanding appliances out and back on the day. We check the subfloor and level it where needed with F. Ball or Ardex compounds, because kitchen floors often have dips where old units or tiles have been. Old floors can be lifted and taken away as part of the job.

Where we fit

We're based at Shillingford Abbot, just outside Exeter, and fit kitchen floors across the city and out to Topsham, Exmouth, Cranbrook, Dawlish, Teignmouth, Newton Abbot and Torquay.

Really pleased with the herringbone LVT in our kitchen. Todd was brilliant from start to finish: honest advice, fair pricing, and a stunning result. Highly recommend.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions.

What's the best flooring for a kitchen?

For most kitchens, LVT is the best all-rounder: waterproof, hard-wearing and warm underfoot. Sheet vinyl is the best budget choice. Engineered wood suits kitchen-diners if you're happy to wipe up spills promptly.

Can you fit new flooring over existing kitchen tiles?

Sometimes. If the tiles are flat and firmly stuck down, some floors can go over them once the grout lines are filled and smoothed. Loose or uneven tiles need lifting first. We'll check on the visit.

Can kitchen flooring go over underfloor heating?

Yes. LVT and engineered wood both work over most underfloor heating systems within the maker's temperature limit.

How long does it take to fit a kitchen floor?

Most kitchen floors are fitted in a day. If the subfloor needs levelling, that may add time, and we'll tell you with your quote.
