Why Choose Wood Flooring?

We’ve seen firsthand how a new wood floor can completely transform a space, whether it’s brightening up a Victorian terrace in Heavitree or bringing warmth to a modern home in St Leonards.

The clean lines of engineered oak, the character of rustic oak, or the classic look of natural hardwood, there’s a style to suit every taste and lifestyle.

  • Timeless appeal that adds elegance to any room
  • Built to last, many can be sanded and refinished multiple times
  • A natural look with beautiful grain patterns and colour variations
  • Suits both modern and traditional interiors
  • Boosts property value thanks to its durability and longevity
  • Many styles are pet- and kid-friendly with tough finishes like brushed lacquer
  • Options available for homes with underfloor heating systems
  • Sustainably sourced options for the eco-conscious homeowner

Engineered Wood Flooring in Exeter

Engineered wood flooring gives you the real wood look with added flexibility. It’s made up of layers, usually a solid hardwood top layer bonded to a stable base. This makes it ideal for areas with changing humidity, like kitchens or bathrooms.

It’s compatible with underfloor heating systems, making it a smart choice for modern builds and energy-efficient homes.

One of our recent customers in Topsham chose engineered oak for their kitchen renovation. It worked perfectly with their underfloor heating, giving the space a clean, modern look with a natural finish.

We supply and fit a wide range of engineered options, including:

  • Natural oiled and natural lacquered finishes
  • Brushed and oiled rustic styles
  • Chevron and herringbone patterns for a designer look
  • Classic oak to walnut tones
  • Brown lacquered and rustic oak for added warmth

Solid Wood Flooring

For purists, solid wood flooring offers unmatched authenticity. Floorboards are made from a single piece of hardwood. Strong, beautiful, and full of character, solid wood brings natural beauty and elegance to your home.

We recently fitted solid oak boards in a farmhouse just outside Exeter; the natural grain and slight colour variations gave the whole place a warm, lived-in feel right from the get-go.

You can pick from a range of species and styles, including:

  • Traditional oak flooring
  • Deep, rich tones like walnut
  • Smooth, lacquered finishes or hand-rubbed oil finishes
  • Rustic textures and wide plank formats

These floors can be sanded back and refinished over time, giving them incredible longevity. Better yet, we offer a bespoke floor sanding and finishing service for a speedy refresh.

*We love solid wood, but we don’t recommend it for use with underfloor heating due to its tendency to expand and contract in fluctuating temperatures.

Parquet, Chevron & Decorative Styles

Parquet flooring has intricate styles, like chevron and herringbone, adds eye-catching detail and works beautifully in entrance halls, living rooms, and open-plan areas.

It’s available in solid wood and engineered wood versions, with the latter being compatible with underfloor heating.

Caring for Your Wooden Floor

Wood flooring is straightforward to look after. A quick sweep or vacuum keeps everyday dust and debris at bay, and a lightly damp mop (not wet) takes care of the rest. Choosing the right finish, like a hardwearing lacquer or natural oil helps protect against wear and tear.

Worried about pets or kids? Our brushed and lacquered options give you extra resistance to scratches and scuffs while keeping a warm, natural look.
